The 3 pictures in my banner with a quick description of each:
Left – First State Dinner – Yes, that is Bhangra Empire in the White House with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. No, it is not photoshopped. We had the honor of performing at President Obama’s First State Dinner on November 24th in 2009. How did all this happen you might ask? Somebody in the First Lady’s office recommended us. Yes it was an amazing experience. The crowed loved our performance. We got a meet and greet with President Obama and the First Lady. And the president even tried a couple of bhangra moves with us. My favorite thing about this picture – the clock in the top right corner telling you what time it is. Tuesday, 11:25 PM Eastern time November 24th, 2009. Check out our First State Dinner page for some more details – Bhangra Empire – First State Dinner
Middle – Bhangra Empire – This is our official team logo. We came up with it in 2008 and have been using it ever since. A lot of teams change up their logo every year. Marketing 101, your logo is your brand, and consistency is what makes people brand loyal. You don’t want to confuse your customer. Okay, that might not be marketing 101, but I did hear it in some marketing class I took last quarter. So hence, we haven’t changed our logo for a while now. We do add tweaks to it here and there but thats about it. Who made our logo? I did of course. Ok, ok I had some help. The 2 silhouettes we use were from our older logo, which Harleen Singh made (of Leja Kite Door fame – Download it on iTunes!)
Right – Harpers Bazar Magazine – November 2010 Issue – So when we went to the White House in 2009, a lot of us described it as a once in a lifetime experience. Well, we got to go back in 2010 so I guess twice in a lifetime? 5 of us had the honor of taking part in a photo shoot for Harper’s Bazar Magazine. The article was on the First Lady and she hand chose a few groups as up and coming talent in the United States. Pretty big honor, huh? And yes, that is me back to back with her. It was pretty cool, I got to pretty much talk to her 1 on 1 for 20 minutes or so while we were posing for the picture. You can find out more details on the Bhangra Empire – Harper’s Bazaar page.
So that describes my blog banner. I put it together in like 30 seconds so I might end up changing it from time to time.
